We at Adoption Associates are saddened by the recent political decision by President Putin to end all Russian adoptions by American families. This is NOT in the best interest of thousands of children living in orphanages and institutions. We know from experience that children are best served when they are placed in loving adoptive families who can nurture them and help them grow to their full potential. This development is especially heartbreaking for the approximately 50 families who have already begun the the adoption process. Having met their children, and promised them a home, they must again abandon them to a system that doesn’t care. It is even more heartbreaking for the thousands of children whose hopes of being adopted are lost.
We encourage families in process to send emails to russiaadoption@state.gov, so the government and families can be informed and perhaps have an influence.
